Hills Christian Community School – BOOK WEEK – DAY 4
Day 4 of Book week found me atĀ Hills Christian Community School. It was an awesome day of fast paced talks.
Here is what the kids came up with in the character creation part of my talk.
First up we have Larry the dog. He has arms that are made of teeth with fish finger fingers, horse legs and a fish’s body. He lives in a french fries house on Mars.
Next we have Fred the frog. He has skeleton arms, chicken drumstick legs, a muscle mans body and a tiger’s tail. He lives in a sneaker in the world of Fruit and veggies.
Here we have Sunny-Jim the wolf. He has T-Rex arms, caterpillar legs and an ice-cream for a body. He lives in a giant donut in the land of books.
Last we have Mr No the crocodile. He has muscle man arms, octopus legs, a beer belly and a monkeys tail. He lives in a giant upside-down pig in the land of whales.
It was a really fun day. All the kids and teachers were super nice. Thank for the awesome day guys!
Black Forest PS – Book Week – Day 1
Book week is here again! Black Forest PS was my first set of talks for the week.
Here’s what the kids came up with in the Character creation part of my talk.
Here we have Bob the pig. He has robot arms, chicken legs, a muscle man’s body and a fish tail. He lives in a cardboard box in the land of KFC.
This is Timmy the slug. He has bear arms, stick legs and an ant’s body. He lives in a giant llama in the land of mushrooms.
This is Borris the hippo. He has octopus arms, Fish tail legs, a baked bean for a body and an arm for a tail. He lives in a turtle shell inside Jabba the Hut’s belly.
And last we have Jimmy the elephant. He has tiger arms, squid legs and a sausage body. He lives in a giant hamburger in the land of volcanoes.
I had a great day and all the kids were awesome!
Sutherland Shire Writers Unleashed festival
I had the pleasure to do a bunch of school talks at theĀ Sutherland Shire Writers Unleashed festival. A big thanks to the organisers for inviting me and to all the kids for being a rad audience.
In the character creating part of my first talk the kids came up with Boo the crocodile with melting chocolate arms, hot doglegs, a skeleton body and a dragons tail. Boo lives in a giant stack of pancakes in the world of chips n’ gravy.
Second was Bob the hippopotamus. He has tentacle arms, carrot legs and a sugar cube body.
Next they came up with Mog the unicorn. Mog has T-rex arms, one mermaid tail for a leg and a chick leg for the other. All topped off with a turtles body. Mog lives in a giant marshmallow in the land of cheese.
Here we have Krob the rabbit. Krob has banana arms, snow ball hands, octopus legs and an upside down roast chicken body. Ā I apologise for the blurry photo.
All up I had a great two days in Sydney. Thanks again to everyone that made it all happen.
Author talks at Charles Sturt Library.
I got to do talks to three awesome groups of kids at the Charles Sturt Library the other day.
As usual each group did a character creating session where the kids yelled out there ideas for characters and i drew them on a white board.
Here’s what the kids came up with.
First we have Benny the crocodile with a sharks body, octopus legs, cheetah arms with knife and fork hands. He lives in a dinosaur on Mars.
Next we have Tom the fish. He has a hotdog body, cheetah legs, meatball arms, candy hands and a rhino horn. He lives in a giant snake in the land of cheese.
Last we have Sunny the cat. She has a chicken nugget body, snake arms, noodle legs in high heels and a pigs tail. She live in a giant rabbit. Unfortunately I didn’t have time to draw the world she lives in.
I had a great time and I’m pretty sure the kids did to.

Adelaide Writers’ Week
I was lucky enough to do a session in the Story Tent at the Adelaide Writers’ Week Festival.Ā The picture above is what the kids came up with in my talk about character creation. Meet Phil the lizard with a sharks body, steampunk tentacles and kangaroo legs. Phil live in a giant jelly fish on Mars.
It was a fun day with lots of cool things happening. I got to meet lots of cool new people and listen to heaps of really interesting talks.

I am now using Manga Studio Ex4. This is the first attempt at drawing with it. I’m pretty happy with it.
King’s Baptist Grammar Visit – Book Week.
Today I went to King’s Baptist Grammar to do some talks on graphic novels and Pilot and Huxley.
Here are the drawings that me and the kids came up with.
Here we have Fred 2000. He is a Chicken that has a snakes body and a scorpions tail. His eyes have x-ray vision. He lives in a giant bowl of feathers on the moon.
Next we have Jack the alligator. He has monkey legs and dragon wings. He lives in a beehive at the bottom of the ocean.
Last we have John the T-rex who has a frogs body. Fred is being ridden by Fred the rabbit. Both of them are going out to posh dinner. They both live in a giant bath plug in lolly land.

Trinity College visit
For the first of my Book Week talks, I visited Trinity College. Below are the characters that the kids and I made up.
Here we have Bob the three-headed python who lives in a fridge on another planet.
This is Deboinga the alien rabbit who lives on a cheese planet.
Here we have Fred the crocodile that has elephant ears and a mermaid tail. He lives on Mars in a dog house that is made of dog bones.
This is Sgt Hootoot. He is an Army Owl who carries a banana bazooka. He lives in a melon.
