Miasma Skateboards began in 2017 as a way to combine two of my biggest passions—art and skateboarding.
What started as an idea quickly became a chance to build an entire brand from the ground up. I was responsible for every aspect of Miasma’s creative identity, including the logo, branding, marketing, website, social media and the graphics that appeared on every skateboard deck.
One of the most enjoyable parts of the project was producing our skate videos. The films I cut and shot documented our team, showcased new products and capturing the personality of the brand. Learning cinematography and video editing opened up another creative outlet and taught me how storytelling changes when you move from still images to motion.
Running Miasma also taught me invaluable lessons about business, branding, product design and marketing. It challenged me to think beyond illustration and consider how every creative decision contributes to a brand’s identity and the way people connect with it.
Although Miasma is no longer active, the experience continues to influence everything I create today. Many of the creative and business skills I developed while building the company now play a major role in my work as the Creative Designer of Bad Plan Studios.
