I had the pleasure to do a bunch of school talks at the Sutherland Shire Writers Unleashed festival. A big thanks to the organisers for inviting me and to all the kids for being a rad audience.
In the character creating part of my first talk the kids came up with Boo the crocodile with melting chocolate arms, hot doglegs, a skeleton body and a dragons tail. Boo lives in a giant stack of pancakes in the world of chips n’ gravy.
Second was Bob the hippopotamus. He has tentacle arms, carrot legs and a sugar cube body.
Next they came up with Mog the unicorn. Mog has T-rex arms, one mermaid tail for a leg and a chick leg for the other. All topped off with a turtles body. Mog lives in a giant marshmallow in the land of cheese.
Here we have Krob the rabbit. Krob has banana arms, snow ball hands, octopus legs and an upside down roast chicken body. I apologise for the blurry photo.
All up I had a great two days in Sydney. Thanks again to everyone that made it all happen.
I was lucky enough to do a session in the Story Tent at the Adelaide Writers’ Week Festival. The picture above is what the kids came up with in my talk about character creation. Meet Phil the lizard with a sharks body, steampunk tentacles and kangaroo legs. Phil live in a giant jelly fish on Mars.
It was a fun day with lots of cool things happening. I got to meet lots of cool new people and listen to heaps of really interesting talks.
Pilot and Huxley VS Planet Arpos by Dan McGuiness.
Pilot and Huxley are about to meet the most evil being in the universe. It’s up to them to foil Arpros’ most wicked plan yet: the annihilation of existence. Will Pilot and Huxley save the day?
Pilot and Huxley by Dan McGuiness.
When Pilot and Huxley forget to return their video game, they have no idea how much trouble they’re about to be in. On the run from an inter-dimensional hit man debt collector who really wants their game, the two friends find themselves stranded in a crazy dimension, where the only way to get home is to retrieve the golden nose-hair of a mountain giant. Things are about to get seriously snotty.
It’s book week again! My first set of talks for the week was at Pulteney Grammar!
As usual I did some character creation with the kids of each group. This is what they came up with.
First up we have GELMAN the dog with rockets for legs, T-Rex arms, a jelly body and a pigs tail. He lives in a rubbish bin inside of a giant mutated dogs stomach.
Next we have NOG the pig. He has robot arms, octopus legs, a chickens body and some dragon wings. He lives in a giant log in the land of mushrooms.
Last but not least we have BOB. He is a shark with an apple core for a body, human legs, sticky taped on skeleton arms and a lolly pop tail. He lives in a giant dog on Mars.
Thanks to all the kids and teachers at Pulteney Grammar for such a cool day.
Here is the link to the digital version that it a bit more readable.
I have just finished signing all the contracts for a Pilot and Huxley cartoon series to be made by Scholastic Entertainment America. I pretty excited about it. There is no set date when it will come out but as soon as I hear anything I will blog about it.
I am also working on a new graphic novel series. It’s going to be so awesome. Here is a sneak peek picture from it.
